This beautiful Mogok, Burma Spinel is the legendary orangy-red Flame Spinel.

IGI certified 2 carats. Absolutely no brown, the photos are not altered in anyway, in real life the red just get more intense.

As it was of a native cut, I had then sent it to U.S for a precision re-cut in a round brilliant.

Voila! Its a beauty after the re-cut, much more brilliant than before, the gem-cutter too commented on its color and re-affirmed that this is the color of the much valued "Flame Spinel".

I had it certified once again with Singapore established Nan Yang Gemological Institute, it is currently 1.18 cts, almost the same face-upsize of 7mm.

It is moderately included.

In the Mogok valley of Burma, deep red stones, sometimes with a touch of orange, are most sought after, but they have now become as dear as rubies and far more rare than fine diamonds. In times past, before the development of modern testing techniques, spinels were actually mistaken for ruby even the Crown Jewels of England contain gems once thought to be rubies, but now known to be spinel.

Clean Rubellite is very rare, so if you see a super clean stone it's probably a Pink Tourmaline or a Rubellite Garnet. Rubellite's intense RED color makes it a beautiful Gem for mounting. Colors range in Rubellite from Fuchsia to maroon Red to Red. The price of Rubellite goes up dramatically as the size increases or the Red deepens in intensity.

There have been no new stocks of clean Rubellite Tourmaline on the market for several years. Expect it to continue to move upward in price.  Called Rubellite because the deepest shades appear to be Ruby-like RED. Like all tourmalines, it has strong pleochroism. Eye clean Rubellite is one of the most expensive of the Tourmalines since most Rubellite has visible inclusions.
